Currently, the laboratory employs a total of 11 staff members engaged in scientific and practical research, including 1 Doctor of Sciences, 3 Candidates of Sciences (PhD), and 7 experienced specialists.

Main objective:
To conduct scientific research on the hydrogeological and geoecological conditions of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as to improve the hydrogeological and geoecological effectiveness of research and other geoecological activities.

Services provided:

  • conducting comprehensive hydrogeological and geoecological studies and mapping in areas exposed to intensive anthropogenic impact;
  • assessing the ecological state of the geological environment and carrying out environmental monitoring;
  • evaluating sources of groundwater contamination, their distribution, and environmental risks at the local level;
  • assessing the consequences of environmental disasters and developing environmental protection measures to reduce negative impacts;
  • preparing geoecological maps of various scales using modern software and GIS technologies;
  • studying contamination of the geological environment by various components;
  • developing measures for localization and remediation of geological environment pollution;
  • developing methodological guidelines and requirements for geoecological research and mapping at different scales;
  • preparing environmental impact statements and environmental protection project documentation;
  • developing reports on environmental consequences;
  • assessing groundwater contamination and developing local treatment and remediation systems;
  • preparing geoecological data passports for environmentally significant organizations;
  • studying and assessing contamination of groundwater, surface water, and soils by petroleum products in oil facility areas, and developing environmental protection measures.

Achieved scientific and practical results:

  • requirements have been developed for hydrogeological, engineering-geological, and geoecological studies related to the disposal of industrial and associated waters into deep underground horizons;
  • geoecological studies were conducted in protected areas, assessing the current state of groundwater, surface water, and soils in the aeration zone, with protection measures and recommendations developed;
  • a hydrochemical zoning map of groundwater in the Republic of Uzbekistan has been created;
  • the impact of agro-industrial complexes on the geological environment in the southern regions of the Fergana Valley has been studied, the current state assessed, groundwater contamination levels identified, and preventive measures and recommendations developed.
