The State Establishment “Institute of Hydrogeology and Engineering Geology” is the primary scientific and methodological research institute of the Ministry of Mining Industry and Geology of the Republic of Uzbekistan and is the leader in the fields of hydrogeology, engineering geology, and geoecology in the Republic. The Institute employs 168 highly qualified specialists, including 8 Doctors of Science (DSc) and 24 Doctors of Philosophy (PhD).
Main scientific directions of the Institute:
Exploration, prospecting, confirmation of reserves, and assessment of groundwater resources;
Diversification of hydromineral resource sources and evaluation of their prospects;
Assessment of the geoecological and meliorative-hydrogeological state of territories and protection of groundwater;
Hydrogeological and engineering-geological studies in engineering-geodynamic processes and mining operations;
Substantiation of the optimal groundwater monitoring system based on modern technologies;
Training of highly qualified specialists (PhD and DSc) through the Institute of Postgraduate Education and conducting editorial and publishing work.
The Scientific Council DSc.24/30.12.2019.GM.96.01 for awarding academic degrees operates under the State Establishment “Institute of Hydrogeology and Engineering Geology". The Scientific Council awards the academic degrees of Doctor of Science (DSc) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in the specialty 04.00.04 – “Hydrogeology and Engineering Geology”.
